SAN DIEGO — The Honest Kitchen on Nov. 1 introduced a robust new portfolio of human-grade cat foods, treats, meal toppers and supplements. Formats include complete-and-balanced dehydrated, dry and wet diets, high-protein treats and toppers, wet toppers, and a goat milk hydration booster supplement.
“We spent over two years developing our new cat portfolio, conducting extensive research dedicated to better understanding the needs of the modern cat parent and their beloved pets,” said Mike Steck, chief marketing officer at The Honest Kitchen. “We are confident that we are delivering something new and exciting.”
The new dehydrated cat food line — which will replace the brand’s current complete-and-balanced dehydrated products for cats — has been reformulated for improved palatability. These diets, along with the new dry Whole Food Clusters cat foods, are designed for kittens and adult cats.
There are three dehydrated options: grain-free chicken, grain-free turkey, and grain-free chicken and fish. Wet cat foods will be offered in two formats, minced and câté™, each in five formulas with chicken, turkey, duck, beef, salmon and cod proteins. The minced recipes are formulated in bone broth gravies.
In addition, the company has launched a new high-protein line of dehydrated treats, Smittens®, and wet meal toppers, Mmmixers™. Smittens are available in three recipes: herring, herring and cranberry, and white fish. The Mmmixers line includes two formulas: chicken and duck and salmon and pollock.
To complement its best-selling Instant Goat’s Milk for dogs, The Honest Kitchen has introduced a similar product for cats formulated with probiotics. The Goat’s Milk supplement can be served alone to encourage hydration or poured over food to add moisture to a dry diet.
All ingredients for the entire portfolio are sourced from human food supply chains, and products are manufactured in a human-grade food facility. The formulations were developed in collaboration with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, according to The Honest Kitchen, and do not contain artificial ingredients, feed-grade ingredients or byproducts, fillers or GMOs.
“Our team has worked really hard to understand the unique nutritional needs, taste preferences, and curiosities of cats, to craft a line of products with a broad variety of textures and flavor profiles that are absolutely irresistible—even to the most discerning feline palate,” said Lucy Postins, founder and chief integrity officer at The Honest Kitchen. “We’re really excited to help even more cats to get on the road to good health with this comprehensive new line.”
The Honest Kitchen’s new meal toppers, cat treats and Goat’s Milk supplement are now available at independent pet retailers, on the company’s e-commerce website, and on other authorized e-commerce platforms. The new Whole Food Clusters and wet formulas will be available starting January 2022.
