Sedalia Police Reports For August 1, 2022 – ksisradio.com

On the morning of July 25th, Officers were dispatched to the Hampton Inn, 3909 West 9th Street, for a report of theft. On arrival, Officers met with the caller, who stated that someone had stolen a duvet cover and a television out of one of the rooms. The caller was able to provide security footage of the incident, and the suspect was identified. Heather Nicole Reyes, 32, of Sedalia, was arrested for Stealing from a Building and Burglary in the 2nd Degree.
 
Friday night, Officers were dispatched to the 3rd Street Mini Storage, 721 East 3rd Street, for a report of property damage. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Scott Charles Matz, who reported someone had cut the lock hasp to gain entry to a storage unit. Matz estimated the damage to cost approximately $40.00. There have been no arrests at this time.
 
Sedalia Police observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Kentucky Avenue late Saturday night. The vehicle also had expired registration. A traffic stop was conducted, and during the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a revoked driving status. Quincy Lamar Conley, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on charges of Driving While Revoked.
 
Officers responded to the area of West 15th Street and South Osage Avenue early Sunday morning in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers made contact with two male subjects in the middle of the roadway. One male was yelling very loudly, causing a disturbance. Brandon J. Cooper, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested for charges of Public Peace Disturbance and Pedestrian In the Roadway and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Cooper was given two municipal summons and a court date.
 
Early Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop at West Broadway Boulevard and South Warren Avenue on a vehicle with a burnt out headlight. Officers had observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane, and also observed it chirp its tires as it took off from a red light. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Richard L. McPhail, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. McPhail was transported to the Pettis County Jail, on charges of felony Driving While Intoxicated (Aggravated Offender).
 
 
Officers were dispatched to the area of West 16th Street and South Beacon Avenue Sunday morning to assist with a traffic stop. When Officers arrived, they made contact with the driver. While speaking with him, Officers detected the odor of intoxicants on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the vehicle. Anthony Rojas, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Rojas was issued a UTT for Driving While Intoxicated and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with a court date.
 
Early Monday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the Discount Smoke Shop, 709 East Broadway Boulevard, for a commercial burglary alarm. When Officers arrived, they discovered that entry had already been made to the business. It is unknown at this time the amount of the theft.
 
Friday evening, Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 3rd Street and South Harrison Avenue for a registration violation. During the course of the stop, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana. The marijuana was seized for destruction, but charges will not be requested.
 
Sedalia Police met with Steven Rhoads Sunday afternoon in the 1900 block of South Missouri Avenue. Rhoads wished to report damage to his truck. There are no suspects at this time.
 
Sunday afternoon, Officers conducted a pedestrian stop near intersection of West 9th Street and South Ohio Avenue. Jonathan D. Buri, 37, of Sedalia, had a Pettis County warrant for his arrest on charges of Peace Disturbance. Buri was transported to the Pettis County Jail with a $1500 cash or surety bond.
 
Sedalia Police met with a victim on Sunday afternoon in the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue who wished to report her peace was disturbed. A summons was issued to Jessica N. Tackett, 25, of Sedalia, for Public Peace Disturbance.
 
Saturday afternoon, Officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of West Pettis Street and North Missouri Avenue after observing it making several moving violations. A computer check of the driver's information revealed he had a Pettis County warrant for his arrest. Jacoby Marquis Bell, 26, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Speeding. Bell was transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a $250 cash only bond.
 
Sunday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the 3800 block of South Limit Avenue. Sandara M. Hurd, 47, Homeless, was arrested for Driving While Revoked and No Proof of Insurance. Hurd was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
 
Sedalia Police met with Cameron Jackson Sunday afternoon in the lobby of the Police Department. Jackson stated his CashApp card was fraudulently used at the Break Time store, 2891 West Broadway Boulevard, the night before. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been identified.
 
Saturday morning, Officers observed a vehicle speeding on East Broadway Boulevard. As the vehicle passed the Officers, they noticed the vehicle had a broken tail light, had no license plate lights, and expired registration plates. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on South Marvin Avenue near East 12th Street. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a revoked driving status, was currently intoxicated, and had a Pettis County warrant for his arrest. Shaevon M. Collins, 34, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Collins was booked on his Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle. A request for the charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Revoked have been sent to the prosecutor. Collins was held pending a $400 cash only bond.
 
Sunday morning, Officers responded to a reported disturbance near the intersection of East 9th Street and South Wagner Avenue. An individual was found to have an active Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License. Ratliff Taylor Meseky, 18, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked in with a $250.00 bond.
 
Sedalia Police were dispatched to a theft incident that happened at the Applebee's restaurant, 3320 West Broadway Boulevard Sunday morning. Jordan M. Foster reported their items being taken from the restaurant. The reporting party just wanted a phone call. The suspect is unknown at this time.
 
Friday night, Officers responded to the Mazzio's restaurant, 1613 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a theft. Lyric Adair stated an ex-employee stole a sign from the business. The sign was recovered and returned to the business. At this time, charges are not being pursued.
 
Sedalia Police observed a vehicle failing to maintain its lane in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and South Harrison Avenue early Saturday morning. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Katherine D. Romantsov, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where she provided a breath sample that showed her BAC to be above 0.08. Romantsov was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for Driving While Intoxicated and released to a sober driver.
 
Saturday morning, Officers conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Montgomery Avenue. A probable cause search of the vehicle located approximately 10 grams of marijuana. No charges are being requested at this time.
 
Saturday morning, Officers conducted a warrant check at the UPS Store, 2304 West Broadway Boulevard. Lacey R. Battles, 37, Homeless, was arrested for a Failure to Appear warrant out of Pettis County on original charges of Peace Disturbance, and a Failure to Appear warrant from Benton County on original charges of Harassing Communication. Battles was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in with no bond.
 
Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Center Avenue Friday evening in reference to a harassment report. The incident was documented using a general information report.
 
Early Saturday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Chance's R Bar, 303 South Lamine Avenue, in reference to a subject with a warrant. The subject had left the area, but was located a short time later at their home address in the 200 block of South Prospect Avenue. Kayla E. Demshick, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant from Pettis County on original charges of Identity Theft and Possession of Marijuana with bond at $1500 cash or surety, and three Failure to Appear warrants out of the City of Sedalia on original charges of a Red Light violation and two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, total bond cash only set at $400.
 
On the morning of July 25th, American Auto Rental, 2101 South Limit Avenue, reported that property was stolen from the business. The property was stolen sometime between July 14th and July 22nd.
 
Sedalia Police responded to the area of West 16th Street and South Osage Avenue for a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon. Contact was made with a witness, who reported that a vehicle drove off the roadway and caused damage to the sidewalk, and then drove away from the scene.
 
Friday morning, Officers spoke with an employee of Sacred Heart School, 416 West 3rd Street, in regards to illegal dumping. A suspect deposited twelve tires into a solid waste container at the school.
 
Friday afternoon, Officers performed a warrant check in the 900 block of Winchester Drive after a wanted subject was observed walking into an apartment. The suspect was ultimately found hiding in a closet and his warrant was confirmed. It was issued after he failed to appear in court on a property damage charge. Troy Dale Fogarty, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was held pending a $250 cash only bond.
 
Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 600 block of South Moniteau Avenue in reference to a warrant check Friday afternoon. A subject was located in the residence with a violation warrant from the Probation and Parole Office with an original charges of felony Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree. Deandre A. Laney, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with a bond of $2000 cash and $2500 surety.
 
Officers responded to the 900 block of Thompson Boulevard in reference to found property Friday afternoon. A resident in the area had found a purse in the street that contained numerous personal items. The owner of the purse has been identified, but attempts to contact them have been unsuccessful. It has been placed into evidence for safekeeping.
 
On the afternoon of July 26th, Officers were dispatched to the Jiffy Stop, 1722 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a forgery report. A suspect came into the store and used a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase tobacco products and gasoline. The suspect was identified and charges of Forgery and Stealing are being recommended to the state prosecutor.
