Mayor Joe Pitts announces he's running for re-election on 'Clarksville First' platform | ClarksvilleNow.com – Clarksville Now

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has announced that he will run for reelection in the fall.

Pitts told Clarksville Now this morning that his “Clarksville First” platform will focus on many of the same issues as his 2018 bid, building on the successes of his first term.
“We ran on ‘One City’ in 2018, talking about bringing unity to the city. We want Clarksville to be first in everything. We were named No. 1 by Money magazine, 37042 was the No. 1 zip code. Safety first, family first, all that sort of thing,” Pitts said.
Pitts said he wants to keep the momentum on improving Clarksville’s infrastructure in a second term.

“I think we’ve got to keep the pedal down, forgive the pun, on the transportation plan to get it fully implemented. That remains the No. 1 issue,” Pitts said. “We’re going to be taking about places and spaces, expanding our park and green space offerings much like we did the transportation plan. It’s really about strengthening what we already got started.”

He was elected mayor in 2018, narrowly defeating incumbent Mayor Kim McMillan by a margin of 213 votes in a four-way race.
Pitts will hold a campaign kickoff event at Yada on Franklin on Monday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m.
