Looking for a new fur-ever friend? Check out this free pet adoption event Saturday – Bucks County Courier Times

Doll 10 Beauty, an international cosmetics company headquartered in Newtown, is the sponsor of the third annual free pet adoption event to be held 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Women’s Animal Center, 3839 Richlieu Road in Bensalem.
The “Dolls for Paws” pet adoption event will feature family-friendly activities that include pumpkin painting; food and refreshments; drawings for raffle prize drawings.
Doll 10 Beauty will cover all adoption fees incurred by new pet owners for the placement of shelter animals in need of permanent homes. The facility experiences an influx of an intake of homeless animals brought to the shelter well past summer and throughout the fall season.
In addition to waived adoption fees, event-day adoptions will include spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchip, flea/tick treatment, free and discounted veterinary services and adoption gift bags.
Interested adopters are advised to arrive at the event early the day, streamline the adoption process in advance with a review of the shelter’s website that includes tips on how to prepare for bringing home available adoptable dogs, cats and small domestic animals.
As part of its mission, Women’s Animal Center’s Veterinary Hospital provides affordable, high-quality veterinary care to families in need, making pet ownership affordable and thus keeping more animals in homes and out of shelters.
“Never take time for granted. Animal shelters across the country are filled with pets that need our time. Every year, ‘time is up’ for millions of them, and the time for us to make a difference is now,” said Dr. Doris Dalton, founder of Doll 10 Beauty and a former Mrs. America titleholder.
“Ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away, because the battle for abandoned animals is never over.”
This marks the third annual Dolls for Paws Adoption Event; 57 pets found new homes in 2019, a near-record daily total for the shelter at that time.
“Women’s Animal Center assists thousands of animals in need throughout the region each and every year, but receives no federal, state or local funding to do so. We rely upon the generosity of our community to support our work, so to have a corporate partner like Doll 10 is truly invaluable to us, and to our animals,” said Cathy Malkemes, CEO of the center.
