I’m not sure what goes into the training to be a minor league that dog, but I think they forgot to tell one pup in particular that while the game is going, you are not supposed to interrupt. Rookie, a minor league bat dog, gave players and fans the most adorable interruption during Wednesday’s game.
Take a look at his 15 seconds of fame:
.@BatdogRookie got a little excited during his Sahlen Field debut with the @BuffaloBisons 🤣
We still love him @TrentonThunder. pic.twitter.com/2KJn8OnxNK
Rookie ran onto the field, looking like he was having the time of his life, but stopping play in the meantime. He went over to the pitchers mound and gave himself a tour of the field. The pup was eventually brought back to the dugout to resume his role as bat dog.
The dog did apologize on social media, “I want to apologize to my fren Cavan Biggio, for running out on the field last night during his at bat in the @BuffaloBisons game. I was just so excited to be retrieving bats again. I hope Cavan and @BlueJays are not mad at me.#sorry”

Apology accepted!
This was Rookie’s Sahlen Field debut with the Buffalo Bisons and was definitely one to remember. The Bisons took on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for the first game of a home stand. The Bisons went on to lose 3-0, but don’t tell Rookie that.
Interruptions during games tend to be lively. Sometimes it is fans running on the field making fools of themselves. Often the interruptions are more annoying than anything else, but this one was a more welcomed one.
