Longview animal shelter waives adoption fees, raises awareness for childhood cancer – KLTV

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – The Longview Animal Care and Adoption Center is waiving pet adoption fees for a donation for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
One of their employees, James Boling, lost his son Hayden to cancer last February. So, to help the cause and help clear the shelter, they decided to see what they could do. Animal Service Manager Chris Kemper says most people have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer, so they came up with a free pet adoption for a donation.
“We don’t have any set amount. We’re asking people, you know, donate what you can. We are adopting out animals, they’re coming spayed, they’re coming neutered, they’re coming microchipped. They’re up to date on all of their age-appropriate vaccinations. We think we have wonderful animals up here. I still have over thirty animals right now, waiting to walk out this door. Animals that can literally go home today,” Kemper said.
Kemper says they are at $1400 of their $2000 goal and are leaving it up to Boling to choose which cancer charity will get the funds. In memory of his son Hayden.
