JoJo's Shake Bar, with over-the-top milkshakes, to open Detroit location Sept. 24 – Detroit Free Press

Downtown Detroit will soon welcome a new place to find over-the-top milkshakes, loaded fries and a boozy brunch.
JoJo’s Shake Bar’s first Detroit location is set to open Sept. 24 in the District Detroit area.
As its name implies, JoJo’s Shake Bar is known for its shakes garnished with plenty of sweets, so it’s best to leave your diet at the door.
JoJo’s Shake Bar will open at 88 W. Columbia, a pedestrian-friendly street between the Fox Theater and Little Caesars world headquarters.  From Chicago-based Castle Hospitality, this location is the group’s first outside of Illinois and fifth overall location.

Inside will be several nods to the Motor City musicians and sports figures, along with a trip to the ’80s and ’90s with retro arcade game tables. But the highlight is JoJo’s Biggie Shakes, which you can pair with fries loaded with cheese, bacon and sour cream. Staying true to its Chicago roots, JoJo’s also brought its “Triple Dog Dare You” Chicago-style hotdogs featuring three mini-hot dogs with onion, tomato, relish, peppers, celery salt and mustard. There’s also the “Chicago Handshake,” an old-style beer paired with a shot of Malort.
JoJo’s milkshakes run $14 and are served topped with items such as gummy candies, cotton candy, toffee, marshmallows, cookies and more.  For example, there’s the Girl Scout with Andes mint chocolate shake, toasted marshmallow, chocolate pretzel, chocolate s’more, and a double-chocolate cookie. They also offer a half-dozen basic shakes.
Exclusively for Detroit, JoJo’s Shake Bar created these new drink menu items as a tribute to Detroit legends:
BlueBarry Gin and Juice: The drink is a tribute to Barry Sanders, former Lions running back, and features Botanist gin, Cointreau and blueberry. It’s garnished with lemon.
The Smokin Hot Blonde: This cocktail is a tribute to Madonna, Queen of Pop, and features mezcal, passion fruit, firewater bitter, amarena cherry and a smoking cinnamon stick.
The Faygo Float: A tribute to the iconic Faygo pop. It’s topped with vanilla ice cream and cherry Pop Rocks.
JoJo’s hot chocolate options are also extreme. According to its online menu, the salted caramel has torched marshmallows, gold star marshmallows, jumbo toffee marshmallows and toffee pretzels.
There are dinner, snacks and craft cocktails as well. You can pair the milkshake with loaded fries, a tower of onion rings or buffalo wings, according to its online menus. JoJo’s sandwiches include honey fried chicken, the Reuben, and several burger options.
JoJo’s Boozy Brunch is 11 a.m-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Offerings include French toast, waffles, breakfast burritos, a lox platter, and chicken and waffles. JoJo’s Brady Brunch shake, an Oreo espresso shake topped with a waffle, French toast stick and bacon, is also on the brunch menu.
