ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A wounded and malnourished dog is now under the care of Angels of Assisi after she was discovered in Roanoke Thursday morning.
According to Angels of Assisi, “Magnolia” was brought in as a stray by Roanoke City Animal Control on Thursday, Feb. 17.
While her examination is still in progress, the animal shelter confirmed Magnolia is not only extremely malnourished, but she also has a severe skin infection, multiple mammary masses, and pressure sores and open wounds covering her body.
“Her condition is devastating to see, but our medical team is working hard to get her on the road to recovery,” Angels of Assisi wrote on Facebook on Thursday morning. “For now, Magnolia is cuddled up in a comfy bed and sound asleep; we hope she knows she has found a safe place.”
You can help Magnolia recover from her current medical issues by following this link and donating to the Biscuit Fund for abused animals.
“These heart-wrenching cases, unfortunately, are not letting up,” Angels of Assisi said.
Angels of Assisi has taken care of a number of abused and neglected animals over the last three months, including Charlotte, whose foster family has already adopted her, and four puppies; Luna, who is in a foster home, but learned in mid-January that she has a cancerous mass on her side and is waiting on bloodwork before her surgery; a group of hounds; and Scout, who has already found his forever home.
As of this writing, 35 people have donated a total of $1,480 to support Magnolia’s care.
