Dog's CPR party trick wins Crufts hero nomination – The Times
A rescue dog who saved his disabled owner’s life by raising the alarm and performing a CPR party trick is in the running to be named hero dog of the year.
Chewie, a Yorkshire terrier cross, sprang into action when his owner, Ray Whiteley, who has advanced multiple sclerosis and needs a wheelchair, collapsed.
Whiteley’s wife, Loretta, 56, was in the garden and their two other dogs were upstairs when she heard Chewie barking from the lounge.
She said that this “barking got more and more frantic” and when she went to investigate she saw Ray, 55, slumped in his wheelchair and their five-year-old pet performing a CPR trick on his chest, which he had been taught to do on their other dogs as a
