Thanks to these amazing foster parents, this dog overcame all of her fears one by one until she was finally ready for her forever home. The poor dog had spent four years not being adopted and was timid, and didn’t know who to trust. Thankfully, a loving foster family gave her the time and love she needed to overcome all of her fears.

@theserialfoster slowly started getting the pup out of her comfort zone and one of the first steps was getting her to come out of her crate.

window._taboola = window._taboola || [];
_taboola.push({
mode: ‘thumbnails-m’,
container: ‘taboola-mid-article-thumbnails’,
placement: ‘Mid Article Thumbnails’,
target_type: ‘mix’
});

“The first time I got her out of the crate that was, like, such a big step,” she told The Dodo.
Once she was more comfortable, she was able to put the pup on a leash and bring her into the rest of the house. Although they kept finding things that frightened the dog, like the TV, the pup became more comfortable and came out of her shell.
Finally, when they thought that she was ready, they found her the perfect home. Siri, Annie’s new mom, absolutely loves her and knows that if you don’t give her a moose toy before she goes to bed, she will cry. Annie now has a family of her own, with plenty of moose toys that she loves to cuddle with, and she is truly living her best pup life!
With an estimated 7.6 million animals entering America’s shelters every year, fostering is important because it helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and opens up space for other animals to be saved. It also helps prepare animals for adoption by giving them a chance to live in a home where they can fully express their personality, work to overcome fears, or recover from trauma.

Having foster animals around is hard work, but it is so rewarding and very fun! It is something that will keep you up at night and steal time out of your day. But, you won’t regret a second of it! As a foster parent, you will be loving, raising, and caring for the kittens so that they can grow up and find their forever homes.
