Developer pitches pet-friendly $40M Kenosha apartment project with 312 units – Milwaukee Business Journal – The Business Journals
Menomonee Falls-based real estate development firm Continental Properties Co. Inc. is proposing a 312-unit apartment complex on 21 acres in Kenosha.
The total project cost and investment are estimated to be “well over $40 million,” according to a project narrative the developer prepared for the city.
Plans call for multiple apartment buildings within the complex that would include studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Amenities would include a clubhouse, resort-style pool, 24-hour fitness facility and a pet playground.
The development would be known as the Authentix Pike Creek Apartments. Continental Properties operates an Authentix-branded apartment community in Holland, Michigan, and opened one last month in McHenry, Illinois. Hallmarks of the brand include townhouse-style designs and pet-friendly policies, according to Continental’s website.
Located at 6541 60th St. just west of Green Bay Road, the site currently is undeveloped farmland owned by SP Kenosha LLC and managed by Jason Schiffman of Chicago, according to a development application Continental Properties submitted to the city.
Continental Properties was set to present a concept plan to the city of Kenosha plan commission this week. The city staff has concerns with the proposal, including the site and building design, and the project’s density, which would exceed the maximum level allowed by the area’s current zoning code, according to a city report prepared ahead of the meeting.
The developer previously built The Springs at Kenosha apartment community just west of Interstate 94. Continental sold that 480-unit property to Illinois investor JVM Realty Corp., according to an October 2021 announcement.
