GOWANDA — Cynthia J. Brown-Murphy, 59 of Aldrich Street, passed away early Monday morning Sept. 5, 2022.
Born at the former Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda May 15, 1963. the daughter of R. Arnold and P. Diane (Burger) Brown .
Cindy graduated from Gowanda Central School class of 1981, she attended Edinboro State College in Pennsylvania, where she studied art education. Cindy was very artistically inclined, she loved drawing Disney characters (especially Mickey Mouse) and was very talented at calligraphy.
Cindy grew up in a home that always had a pet or two, she was especially fond of Jack Russell Terriers and just adopted a rescued Jack Russell earlier this year . Cindy enjoyed traveling throughout Europe with her husband and friends in a group they called the “Gowanda Gypsies.” London was her favorite European City. Cindy looked forward to her annual birthday trip with her husband to New Orleans (her favorite overall destination).
Cindy was an avid follower of her beloved New Orleans Saints football team, she did love the Buffalo Bills and Sabres too. Cindy married Stephen T. Murphy in Irving , N.Y. on May 17, 2003.
Besides her husband. Cindy is survived by her sister. Deborah (Robert Field) Brown of Gowanda; along with a stepdaughter, Kayla M. Mayne of Fredonia; and a grandson Phoenix. Cindy is also survived by her aunt, Lugene (Mickey) Cygan; along with cousins and many friends .
Cindy had been employed with WNYDDSO for over 25 years where she worked as a developmental aide
Family and friends are invited to to call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda from 4-7 p.m. Friday Sept. 16, 2022. A celebration of life will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. from the James Cruden VFW Post, 5007 20 Sand Hill Gowanda , N.Y. ( please assemble at the VFW), a luncheon to follow. Cindy will be privately buried with her parents at the Pine Hill Cemetery Gowanda .
If desired, memorials may be made to any no kill animal shelter or any animal rescue organization .
