JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. — A case of animal neglect is generating a case of community response in support of the County’s animal shelter.
Josephine County Sheriff Dave Daniel shared an update today about how “rescued animals from our search warrants involving Pawsitive K9 Solutions are doing. It looks like the Shelter has been super busy — and super supported.”

The Josephine County Animal Shelter (JCAS) shared its own update late Friday that two dogs seized from Pawsitive K9 Solutions last week are reunited with their families.  It says one dog’s owner (shown in headline photo) contacted the Shelter after hearing that law enforcement served warrants on dog care business Pawsitive K9 Solutions and on its owners’ Selma residence.  Sheriff Daniel’s office says they revealed two dead animals and 29 abandoned animals, some of which needed emergency medical care.

JCAS dogs were evaluated by a veterinarian and released after recovery progress noting, “We are so happy to reunite these families, and while they still have a road to recovery ahead of them, they are on a journey back to health in the comfort of their own homes.”
Sheriff Daniel says the dog care business owners are known, and his staff is tracking them.  He also noted support for the animal shelter that took on 120 animals in the past ten days:  87 of them law enforcement impounds.

“We would like to thank the community for the incredible outpouring of support following several high-profile intakes this week,” says JCAS. “These animals arrived at a time when our shelter was already at capacity, putting immense strain on our staff, space, and resources.”

Sheriff Daniel asked for community support for the animal shelter with donations of supplies and financial support.
JCAS says today, “We are working tirelessly to make sure they are getting what they need, but we are not working alone: our community members have made generous donations of money, supplies, and time. We are so appreciative of each and every person who has reached out to help. You have helped turn something tragic into something uplifting, and we cannot thank you enough.”
It says, “While we can’t comment on certain aspects of an active investigation, we are happy to report that all of animals who we’ve taken in recently are doing well, and improving each day. . . Several of these animals will stay with us for multiple months, as their cases continue to develop, and of course, we still have a shelter full of other animals, too.”  JCAS welcomes contributions to their care at www.jocoshelter.com/donate. Shelter Friends also is tracking JCAS current needs.
