Clínica Médicos To Accept Governor's Award Of Excellence – The Chattanoogan

Clínica Médicos will receive the Governor’s Award of Excellence on behalf of Clínica Médicos at a special ceremony on on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Mountain City Club, 729 Chestnut Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402. Dr. Kelly Arnold, founder and medical director, will accept the award on the clinic’s behalf.
The Governor’s Award of Excellence recognizes and highlights great work being done by faith communities, nonprofits, and community initiatives across the state that effectively changes the lives of citizens of Tennessee. Clínica Médicos has been selected by a regional committee for honoring its commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to Chattanooga’s underserved Latino community.
“My partners and I founded Clínica Médicos to make quality, comprehensive healthcare accessible to Chattanooga’s underserved Latino community regardless of their insurance status, language, pregnancy, age, or gender, and we are honored to receive this recognition from the Governor’s office,” says Dr. Arnold. “Americans spend $3.5 trillion on medical care every year. One out of every five Tennesseans reports some amount of medical debt on their credit report, giving us the 8th highest rate of medical debt in the country. This problem is inarguably worse among Latino households and other populations of color, so we are grateful to be part of the solution for many of these families.
“In the past seven years, we have registered more than 38,000 patients – up from 2,000 in our first year of operation – and employ a combined staff of over 50 physicians, providers, scribes, medical assistants, and administrators while continuing to teach the next generation of physicians. With the community’s continued support, we will continue to grow to meet the clear and continuing need in Chattanooga for our services.”
The 15 organizations selected for the Governor’s Award this year were selected from large metropolitan areas and rural areas. They are recognized for their work with seniors, families, children, education, healthcare, housing, and workforce development.
