Big Value Outlet's Coin-Operated Horse Goes Up for Sale – Fun 107
Big Value Outlet in Dartmouth has decided what to do with the legendary coin-operated horse that has sat in front of the store for decades.
Questions about the horse have lingered since the store announced it was going out of business after more than 30 years on Dartmouth Street.
I'm pretty sure my butt has sat on the legendary horse over the years. With the closing, the owners realized the animal means a lot to the community.
That's why they're putting the horse up for sale.
If your parents ever took you to Big Value, you might have a picture of you riding this very coin-operated horse — or at least some fond memories. Owner Dave Tatelbaum purchased the ride in the '80s.
The horse, with all of its wear and tear, is still a functioning ride that plays music.
If you have ever wanted to have your own piece of local nostalgia, here is your chance.
I think another local business (nudge, nudge — a creamery) should purchase this horse and continue the legacy, but it will go to the highest bidder.
A portion of the sale — 25% — will go to Gifts to Give, a SouthCoast organization that helps local children in need.
If you have questions or want to place a bid on the horse, Tatelbaum asks that you reach out to him directly at [email protected]. Bidding will start at $750.
Where do you think this horse should end up? So many memories.
