Big List of Things To Do For Halloween in L.A. [2022] – We Like L.A.

We’re already knee-deep into the Halloween season, but with a little more than two weeks out from the official holiday, now seems like the right time to reassess what spooky, terrifying, eerie, and/or playful options currently populate the Los Angeles event landscape.
Let’s check out your options below.
Carved at Descanso Gardens (daily through October 31) -> Descanso Gardens’ latest version of the family-friendly Carved includes brand new UV light installations by Belgian artists Tom&Lien Dekyvere, alongside a hay maze, pumpkin house, and hundreds of carved pumpkins inside the Camellia Forest. Tickets run $32-$38 for non-members. Carved runs nightly through October 31. Get more info here.
Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch (daily through October 30) -> Culver City’s favorite pumpkin village offers plenty of family fun, including photo ops in front of giant pumpkin installations, a straw maze, a super slide, petting zoo, giant rocking horses, and pumpkin decorating sessions. Tickets range from $8-$30, depending on date of attendance. More info here.
Boo At The Zoo (daily through October 31) -> The L.A. Zoo’s annual Halloween transformation has daily attractions, but the real fun happens on weekends when the zoo offers an assortment of family-friendly, seasonal activities, including open-air shows, animal pumpkin feedings, themed photo ops, and education stations. Entry is included with zoo admission, which starts at $22 for adults. More info here.
Screamfest Horror Film Festival (through October 20) -> The 22nd annual Screamfest features a diverse (and legit scary) lineup of world and west coast film premieres, including screenings of Living With Chucky, Slayers, and The Loneliest Boy in the World. Get tickets and see the full schedule here.
Los Angeles Haunted Hayride (now through October 31) -> The signature Halloween experience held in Griffith Park continues on select dates through Halloween. Visitors will experience a revamped version of Midnight Falls, a fictional horror-town filled with roaming monsters, a haunted mortuary and macabre theatre. Hayride-only tickets start at $29.99, and GA tickets for all attractions start at $39.99. Get more info here.
Urban Death Tour of Terror (select dates through October 31) -> Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre’s annual tradition of Urban Death is back with a brand new series of terrifying vignettes, bookended by walks through a short (but creepy) maze. Performances continue on Fridays and Saturdays through October 29, with two bonus shows on Sunday, October 30 and Halloween Monday, October 31. Advance tickets are $20 per person. More info here.
Knott’s Scary Farm (select dates through October 31) -> Knott’s Scary Farm is back with their signature lineup of haunted attractions, mazes and thousands of monsters ready to scare the living daylight out of you and your crew. More info here.
Nights of the Jack (select dates through October 31) -> The annual 1-mile trail of Halloween lights and jack o’lanterns at King Gillette Ranch continues on select dates through October 31. In addition to the signature walk, expect live pumpkin carving demos, face painting, a souvenir shop, and a “spookeasy” offering adult beverages for sale. Admission runs $29.99-$44.99 depending on which day of the week you attend. Get more info here.
Shaqtoberfest (select dates through October 31) -> Dark Harbor at the Queen Mary is no more, but Laker great Shaquille O’Neal (?!?) has lent his name to a brand new Halloween-themed event that utilizes the famed cruise ship as the backdrop. Shaqtoberfest offers a more family-friendly, carnival vibe during the day (think treat-or-treat trails, rides, pumpkin installations, etc…) then pivots into a selection of walkable scare zones during the evening, all backed by a Shaq-approved soundtrack. Haunt O’ Ween (select dates through October 31) -> Haunt O’ Ween’s 200,000 square-foot playground of Halloween-themed games, performances, rides, and attractions is now back in Woodland Hills. GA tickets run $36-$44. Get more info here.
Reign of Terror Haunted House (select dates through November 5) -> This award-winning haunted house and walkthrough experience located in Thousand Oaks is now in its 22nd season. The 2022 edition features 135 (!) rooms in 10 different, inter-connected sections within 28,000 square feet of floor space. Standards tickets are $30. More info here.
Halloween Horror Nights (select dates through October 31)-> Scary season continues at Universal Studios with a fall horror takeover featuring the signature Terror Tram, plus a litany of scare zones, lives shows, and eight different haunted houses, including a nightmare experience based on The Weeknd’s After Hours video series. GA tickets start at $72, but VIP and express packages can push the price point well over $300 depending on the offer. Get more info here.
Movies on the Roof Halloween Series (October 14-15, 21-22) -> Movies on the Roof returns to the Westfield Fashion Square with back-to-back weekends of scary movie picks, supported by live games, comfy seating, and plenty of food options for purchase. Tickets are just $5, and proceeds go to support Hope of the Valley. Get more info here.
The Enchanted Garden (October 16) -> The first-ever adult Halloween event at L.A. Arboretum features tarot readings, creature encounters, themed cocktails and special performances, including a candlelight reading of Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven in the gazebo. Oscar Sunday Ghost Stories (October 16, 23, 30) -> Each Sunday in October, The Academy Museum screens an award-winning film at the Ted Mann Theater offering its own spin on the concept of a ghost story. The remaining lineup features Kwaidan on October 16, Beloved on October 23, and Beetlejuice on October 30. Tickets are $10 for adults. Screenings start at 7:30 p.m. each Sunday. More info here.
Cemetery Lane (October 19-23, 27-30) -> The victorian homes at Heritage Square Museum get a haunted, mid-century makeover during this throw back trick-or-treat experience. There will be 13 themed trick-or-treat stops in all, and tickets are $27-$32 depending on time of entry. More info here.
One Colorado Halloween Events (October 20-31) -> Old Pasadena’s One Colorado offers multiple family-friendly Halloween activations this year, including a balloon show, a pumpkin decorating event, a performance by the Bob Baker Marionettes, and trick-or-treating on Halloween day. Bienvenido A La Twilight Zone (October 27-28) -> Lucha VaVOOM is back at The Mayan Theater this October for a special two-night Halloween event featuring their inimitable blend of Mexican wrestling, burlesque dancers, aerialists, and comedians. GA tickets start at $45 per person. Get more info here.
San Gabriel Fall Festival (October 28) -> The City of San Gabriel kicks off Halloween weekend with a family-friendly affair held at the Mission Playhouse Plaza. Expect trunk-or-treating, games, a costume contest, and a haunted zone at nearby Grapevine Arbor Park. Free to attend. Runs 5 to 9 p.m. More info here.
Halloween on the Boardwalk (October 28) -> The Redondo Beach Pier Association hosts a family friendly Halloween festival with DJ’d tunes, a costume contest, and trick-or-treat stations right on the boardwalk. Runs 5 to 8 p.m. Get more info here.
Boonion Station (October 29-30) -> Union Station’s annual Halloween activation is back in-person with a two-day, family friendly event featuring trick-or-treat trail, hay maze, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and daily prizes for best costumes. Phantom of the Opera at Old Town Music Hall (Saturday-Sunday through October 30) -> On weekends in October, Old Town Music Hall in El Segundo will screen a selection of horror classics including the Bela Lugosi version of Dracula, Night of the Living Dead, and Psycho. On October 30, the theater offers three showings of the 1925 silent version of The Phantom of the Opera, which will be accompanied by live music by the theater’s Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ. Black Lagoon Pop Up Bar (Tuesday-Sunday through October 31) -> The touring immersive Halloween pop-up bar Black Lagoon takes over Lost Property Bar in Hollywood for a month-long residency of themed cocktails in a wicked atmosphere filled with goth and metal music. No cover and costumes are encouraged. The bar is open Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 7 p.m.

Danny Elfman at The Bowl (October 28-29) -> Danny Elfman is back at The Hollywood Bowl for Halloween weekend, backed by the same rock band, orchestra, and choir that he played with at this year’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival. The setlist will include tunes from Oingo Boingo, Elfman’s solo career and classic works from his many film scores and television themes including Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Simpsons, Batman, and more. Haunted Little Tokyo Block Party (October 29) -> One of Los Angeles’ most historic neighborhoods is throwing a 21+ block party for spooky season. Free to attend, the party will feature live music, a full bar, costume contest, and food. More info here.
Corgi Beach Day Howloween (October 29) -> The folks from SoCal Corgi Beach Day host their fall meetup at Huntington Dog Beach, and costumed corgis will be the order of the day. Expect prizes for best dressed, food vendors, and plenty of photo ops. Get more info here.
Halloween at Disney Concert Hall (October 31) -> Halloween night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall features a screening of the 1920s silent classic The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari featuring a live accompaniment from organist Clark Wilson, who will soundtrack the film with the help of the Concert Hall’s booming 6,134 pipe organ. Free Ice Cream at Dear Bella (October 31) -> For the second year in a row, Dear Bella Creamery is offering a free scoop to costumed kids (12 and under) and/or a free “pup cone” for any costumed doggies on Halloween. The offer is good at Dear Bella’s Hollywood or Costa Mesa location. You just need to say “trick or treat” to unlock the offer.
