Bristol Bears players brought their dogs along this week for a special walkies with the team from Bristol Animal Rescue Centre to help raise awareness of a new campaign launching this month.
School children, businesses and even sports teams across Bristol are being invited to ditch their uniforms and put on their PJs instead from October 10th-15th to raise funds for animals in need.
Bristol Animal Rescue Centre’s PJs For Pets campaign aims to raise much needed funds for the animal welfare charity. Participants can choose a day between October 10th-15th to wear their pyjamas to school, work or on the pitch, and donate £1 per person to the cause. Every penny raised will go towards caring for homeless pets in Bristol.
The charity is more in need of support than ever, as more local families struggle to afford their pets, and demand soars for its Outreach vet clinic – which offers free and low cost vet care for pet owners on low incomes or benefits.
Maisie Barrett, Fundraising Officer at Bristol Animal Rescue Centre, said: “We’re so grateful to Bristol Bears for joining us to launch this campaign. There’s never been a more desperate time for many of Bristol’s pet owners, as the current crisis forces them to cut back and, in some sad cases, even give up their pets. We’re here to give as many of those animals as possible a second chance at a happy life and we hope that Bristol will get on board with PJs for Pets and help raise money for the vulnerable animals we care for”.
Andrew Bell, Professional Development Manager at Bristol Bears, said: “Bristol Bears are a dog loving team and we’ve seen first-hand all the great work that Bristol Animal Rescue Centre has been doing with the city’s homeless pets. We’re encouraging all our supporters to speak to your school, your employers, and your local community groups, get your PJs on and get involved this October!”
PJs for Pets will run from 10th – 15th October. Supporters can sign up online here: https://mailchi.mp/657a5e1bfbfc/pjs-for-pets or contact [email protected] for a fundraising pack for their school, business or community group.
