Barkworthies Named Dog Treat of Year | Industry News | petbusiness.com – Pet Business Magazine
TDBBS, makers of Barkworthies, PawLove and Best Bully Sticks, has announced its new Backyard Barkers dog chews has won the Independent Innovations Award for “Dog Treat Product of the Year.” The chews are lower in calories, lower in fat and rich in collagen with the added dental health that chewing provides.
“We are so proud to win this prestigious award for our new Backyard Barker chews,” said Andrea Blades, chief marketing officer for TDBBS. “We knew we had something special on our hands when we saw how dogs reacted to the collagen-rich beef burgers. It looks like they are popular with our furry pals as well as the judging committee from the Independent Innovations Awards.”
“Backyard Barkers scored high in the overall quality of ingredients used,” said Travis Grant, Independent Innovations Award Committee. “The use of fillers and non-natural ingredients is a growing trend we see in today’s pet world. The ethical sourcing of ingredients of Backyard Barkers also scored high with the judges. Additionally the health benefits of the treat, collagen usage and dental health, really set them apart from the other nominees.”
Barkworthies takes steps in producing the all-natural beef chews. It starts with free-range, grass-fed beef sourced from Columbia, Brazil and Argentina and ends in chews.
“Our chews originate from six breeds of cattle that are raised for human consumption,” said Smith. “After they are humanely slaughtered, we use the remaining parts of the cow to create our chews. All of this is done under industry leading food safety programs and allows us to fully utilize the whole cow in creating our healthy chews that dogs love.”
