After ‘severely burned’ dog found in Norwood, an investigation into whether dog was abused and abandoned – MassLive.com
A Boston-area animal rescue group and officials in Norwood are investigating whether a dog found severely burned was abused and abandoned, and are asking for the public’s help in piecing together how the pup wound up injured and on the street.
The 1-year-old, mixed-breed dog — named “Annie” since her rescue — was found as a stray on Route 1 in Norwood last week. Though wearing a leash and collar, she had no tags, microchip or other identification, the Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Boston said in a statement.
Annie was coated in second-degree burns across the front half of her body, from her head down to her abdomen, the ARL said. After being brought to Norwood Animal Control, an officer concerned for the dog’s health contacted the animal welfare group.
