In this week’s Man’s Best Friend column from Jerry Green Dog Rescue, there’s a special young dog in need of a new home.
Hello, I’m Albus! I’m only a baby at the moment, but I’m going to be a big boy!
I may look very cute, however, I really need experienced owners. I’m looking for a family who has experience with adolescent dogs and/or working breeds, if you have experience with puppies with poor bite inhibition, that’s even better!
I’d really like to live with another dog as they help me feel more confident, I’m not the most well-mannered so I will need to be kept separate from another dog in the home initially by a baby gate or strong play pen.
My new dog friend will need to be a medium breed or larger who is steady, confident and tolerant. They will need to have experience living with dogs previously, otherwise I’ll be quite the shock the system!
I’m really good at spending time on my own in a different room to people and other dogs. I don’t get barrier frustrated at all – which is great because I do need to be managed separately in the home so I don’t get the opportunity to practice being an alligator!
I’m quite happy to have a snooze on my own while you are working upstairs, at the moment I can be left for two hours. This can be increased as I get settled, I’m doing great with toileting outside too, I’ve picked it up really quick.
I love travelling and enjoy going to new fields to stretch my legs, I need a car that can be accessed away from the road as I find traffic spooky. I love my toys and chomping down on chews is a great pass time. I will need a fully enclosed garden to enjoy with at least a 6ft boundary.
Unfortunately, I can only live with children who are 16+ and I can’t live with cats or other small furries due to my history and behaviour.
My new family will need to be understanding and dedicated to continuing my training, however challenging that may be. My friends at Jerry Greens will provide all behavioural support so I can find my forever home.

Sign up for Sit Stay Fit sessions
Are you looking for a group where you can socialise and exercise your dog whilst learning about your dog’s health and wellbeing?
Maybe our new Sit Stay Fit sessions are what you are looking for!
It’s a monthly, hour-long session centred on helping your pooch reach and maintain a healthy weight.
These sessions are a great chance to learn about nutrition, socialise your dog and discover creative ways to keep your dog active.
We will help you track your dog’s weight by kicking the session off with a woofing weigh-in, our staff will then lead a workshop on topics such as active enrichment, nutrition through life stages and how to body condition score.
The session will finish off with a social walk so your dog can burn some energy.
These sessions will be running at each of our centres from November 2022 but places are limited.
