Jiminy's announced new insect-based wet dog food at Global Pet Expo – Pet Food Processing

BERKELEY, CALIF. — Jiminy’s, a producer of insect-based protein dog food and treats, launched new wet dog food formulas and promoted its Nooch and Peanut Puffs dog treats March 23 to 25 at Global Pet Expo 2022 in Orlando, Fla.
The two new wet dog food products are Cravin’ Cricket Entrée and Good Grub Entrée. The Cravin’ Cricket Entrée recipe can serve as a full meal or be used as a meal topper. It includes carrots, green beans, garbanzo beans, pumpkin and crickets. Good Grub Entrée is a complete and balanced meal for dogs that can also be used as a meal topper. This formula is made with carrots, green beans, sweet potato, flaxseed, pumpkin, and black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) insect protein. Both wet dog food recipes are cooked at low temperatures and high pressure to protect nutritional value and are packaged in recyclable Tetra Pak packaging.
Nooch Puffs and Peanut Puffs dog treats both include cornmeal, lentils, fava bean, rice flour, crickets, sunflower oil and nutritional yeast, while Peanut Puffs also include peanuts for flavoring and banana for a touch of sweetness.
“At Jiminy’s, we continue to innovate with truly differentiated products,” says Founder and Chief Executive Officer Anne Carlson. “For example, our new Peanut Puffs are not only made with a novel and sustainable protein source (crickets!) but they’re also a new and exciting treat form. These puffs are less than two calories, contain 22% protein, and are so fun to eat! They’re crunchy but then melt in the mouth. Our new Peanut Puffs are so light that they FLOAT! Our friends at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute are using these treats to entice dogs to walk in the water treadmill – less cleanup and a great incentive for the pups!”
Jiminy’s assortment of sustainable dog foods and treats are sold in independent pet food retailers across the country and are available for purchase on Amazon, Chewy, and through the company’s website. Most recently, the brand has expanded its retail footprint to Petco stores and online.
