The Sunday morning low temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 5 below zero. It was the first below-zero reading recorded there this month.
Parts of far northern Minnesota are starting Sunday much colder, with a lot of 20s below zero and even a few colder temps, including minus 33 at International Falls on the Canadian border.
A high-pressure system to our west will bring northwesterly winds to much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday. Although measurable snow is not expected, a stray flurry will be possible.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential pressure pattern and precipitation pattern Sunday and Sunday evening:
Wind chill advisories continue this Sunday morning across much of Minnesota plus western Wisconsin. A wind chill warning has been posted for northwestern Minnesota through Monday morning:
The wind chill advisory ends at 10 a.m. in the Twin Cities and into south-central Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin:
