Make 2023 a year to be inspired! New wellness platform and programs, Eating With a Purpose nutrition series, and more wellness trends in the news!
Last year my word for the year was ‘opportunity’. Every day we have an opportunity to take simple steps toward better health and enhanced well-being.
My hope and encouragement for you in this new year is that no matter where you sit at APS, you feel this spark, it motivates you to action and you pass it on.
APS partners with The Solutions Group to bring you a variety of well-being programs as well as the Wellness at Work platform and incentive program. We are happy to announce our well-being program is getting a significant upgrade in the transition to a new platform called Virgin Pulse.
The new mobile app has enhanced wellness options, easier access, and simplified activity syncing. Registration on Virgin Pulse begins on Jan. 4, 2023. Eligible full-time employees will receive an invitation email from Wellness at Work (it’s not spam). Access your new Wellness at Work platform with the same username & password. New users can easily register in less than 5 minutes. This is open to all full-time APS Employees. Find your balance, get daily inspiration, and experience the rewards of feeling & functioning better every day!
Every month APS employees now have access to a variety of well-being webinars. All webinars are recorded. Register and receive the recording for on-demand viewing at a time that is convenient for you. All the information and links/QR codes to join are in the Employee Wellness event calendar.

Your monthly dose of fitness, nutrition and wellness trends!
Data shows that even short bouts of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity lead to higher levels of cardiorespiratory fitness than achieving 4,000+ steps per day.
Good news for pasta lovers: Eating your carbs in pasta form may result in better metabolic health than getting your carbs from bread.
There seems to be more stress and anxiety in children now, but encouraging them to eat more berries and carrots could help kids’ mental health (adults can benefit too!)
It remains to be determined what is the sweet spot for daily fermented food intake concerning microbiome health, but these make-ahead overnight oats are good for the gut.
During this stretch, do not allow your back to excessively arch. You should feel it stretching the groin of the down leg and glute of the opposite leg.
