PetPlate, the gently cooked, vet-designed, 100 percent human-grade dog food brand, has appointed George Korsnick and Larry Reynolds have been as the company’s chief technology officer and head of product design, respectively. Led by founder and MIT-trained physicist, Renaldo Webb, the growth amplifies the company’s value proposition to facilitate better pet nutrition through consumer-friendly, scientific data-driven technology innovation, company officials said.
PetPlate is a leading provider of 100 percent human-grade, subscription-based pet food made with high-quality, real ingredients designed specifically for a dog’s complete and balanced dietary needs. The company uses a proprietary algorithmic approach to wholly customized meal plans based on criteria specific to each individual dog profile, such as lifestyle, age, weight and breed, combining it with collected and historical breed data, officials said. To date, PetPlate has delivered more than 20 million vet-designed entrées, treats and supplements to dogs across the country, helping them live happier, healthier lives, officials reported.
“Data has always been critical to how PetPlate operates,” Webb said. “Our commitment to utilizing the most cutting-edge technology directly impacts the company’s ability to serve the unique needs of each dog we feed. Our data-driven algorithm helps ensure that each dog is being fed exactly what they need to thrive—from ingredients to portion size. We aim to take the guesswork out of feeding your dog and couldn’t be more excited to officially bring George on as our chief technology officer to further position PetPlate as a pet-first, tech-enabled company.”
Korsnick brings nearly 20 years of experience to the position, previously working as the head of software engineering for Mars Petcare and serving as the CTO for five venture-backed start-ups prior. He was also the technical lead for Fortune 500 companies, including Nike, Google, TED and PayPal, and was integral in transforming pet DNA testing brand, Wisdom Panel, into a tech-enabled pet health platform, officials said. A true expert generalist who has worked across multiple disciplines and industries, Korsnick specializes in turning consumer packaged goods into fully-fledged technology platforms, officials added.
“I could not be more excited to have officially joined PetPlate’s team,” Korsnick said. “Since its founding, PetPlate has been a category leader at the intersection of pet care and technology, which has led to incredible success so far. Given my deep understanding of data-backed online experiences and my proclivity towards functional tech, my goal is to build a smarter ecosystem around PetPlate’s product that elevates the user experience.”
Reynolds joins PetPlate with 25 years of digital design experience, most recently coming off a three-year stint as the director of product design for pet DNA firm Wisdom Panel, where he played a critical role in building out its product design organization to amplify the product’s efficiency and user experience, officials said. Reynolds’ focus on digital product through the lens of the consumer, within the wider framework of user interface, brand, product and e-commerce, enables him to design efficient, trustworthy tech, officials added.
With their combined expertise building smarter tech in the pet space at Wisdom Panel, both hires bring a consumer-first approach to the table, ultimately working to build platforms with a seamless user interface and experience, officials said. Through strategically building out its tech team, PetPlate is poised to pave the way for the pet category to better serve the nutritional needs of pets and their owners, officials added.
