Australian family preserves their dead pet dog as a rug. Internet is shocked – India Today

By Srimoyee Chowdhury: The bond between pets and their owners is indeed precious. But this Australian family’s decision to preserve the memory of their deceased pet dog has left people shocked and disgusted.
Shared on Instagram by Chimera Taxidermy, the clip shows the end product. As the video goes on, the specially commissioned pelt is shown closely. The dog’s head and paws can be seen as intact and almost life-like.
“Beautiful old golden retriever preserved as a pelt for his family,” read the caption.

The clip has been viewed over 29k times. However, netizens were quite shocked at the practice. While the process of taxidermy (preserving dead animals in a life-like manner) involves preserving a being in its original form, it is quite unusual to see people doing the same with their pets.
While some were extremely disgusted with the concept, others termed it as one of the most horrible things a person can do to their pets.

“Utterly disgusting,” wrote an Instagram user. “They should have let his soul rest in peace,” commented another.
