Furry Friends & Fancy Things: fashion, pet adoption in one fundraiser – Palm Beach Post

There are fashion shows and then there are fashion shows featuring models and beautiful, adoptable dogs (and maybe a kitten or two) dressed to the (K?) nines.
This is the latter: the Third Annual Furry Friends & Fancy Things.
Taking place at the Pelican Club in Jupiter on Nov. 5, this just might be the fashion event of the season. (And if you’re a dog that gets adopted, then it absolutely is!) Expect a glamorous brunch, fancy pop-up boutiques, a live auction and, of course, decked-out models with decked-out dogs both strutting their stuff on the catwalk to raise money for a fantastic cause: Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch.
The boutiques will be provided by local luxury vendors and will feature fashion, jewelry and skin-care products. A portion of the sales also will benefit Furry Friends.

The auction will feature several trips, including one to North Carolina and another to New Mexico (good for any time of the year); a fishing charter aboard a luxury sport fisherman yacht; a pop-up restaurant experience in your own home for up to 10 people provided by Saffron Supper Club; and a Hall of Fame experience with former NFL player and NFL Hall of Famer Willie Roaf — the winner can attend any NFL game with Roaf.
The main event, the fashion show, will begin around noon and will feature models provided by the event’s fashion sponsor, Free People. Wearing Free People fashions, models will walk the catwalk accompanied by adoptable dogs that will also be wearing some pretty sweet threads. Their outfits are courtesy of Free People, which has a line of clothing, bedding and toys for dogs. In addition to the Free People models, several Furry Friends sponsors will have representatives strolling the catwalk with precious pups.
Proceeds from the event support Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic & Ranch.
Guests are invited to bring their own pets as a special plus-one.
Furry Friends has a veterinary clinic and adoption headquarters in Jupiter; it also operates a thrift store and boutique in Jupiter and  a ranch in Palm City.
When Hurricane Ian hit the west coast, Furry Friends sprang into action to assist shelters and save dogs and cats from the disaster zone. Since then, the Furry Friends team has been working to rescue hundreds of animals and move them to safety.
Since its inception in 1981, Furry Friends has rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed animals across Palm Beach and Martin counties. This year, the organization is introducing a slate of new programs, including providing free pet food to shelters, pairing senior pups and people, training service dogs for veterans, and transporting animals from overcrowded Florida shelters to eager adopters across the U.S. Other initiatives include helping keep pets in their homes by providing financial and behavioral resources, caring for bottle-fed kittens and pediatric puppies, and encouraging a more compassionate future through their humane education program.
