The largest no-kill dog rescue in the United States, Big Dog Ranch Rescue is helping rescue animals all around Florida that have been impacted by Hurricane Ian.
Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Florida is helping shelters and animal rescues across the state that have been impacted by the storm. Although Palm Beach County, where the rescue is located, did not get hit badly by the storm, they have immobilized to help the areas affected.

“Right now, we’re loading our bus with crates for animals that may need evacuation from shelters over on the West Coast,” Laurie Simmons, founder and president of the rescue said. “We’ve also put out a plea for donations for pet supplies, dry and wet dog and cat food, and crates for people that need to relocate to shelters.”
They are organizing buses full of supplies to be sent to the west coast of Florida as long as driving conditions are safe. It has been difficult for them to get in contact with shelters because of the loss of service and electricity. The rescue plans to rescue endangered dogs and bring them back to their 33-acre ranch while giving supplies to both shelters and families with pets in need.
This is not the first time Big Dog Ranch Rescue has helped with rescue missions after hurricanes. The rescue has helped with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, Dorian, and Maria as well. Big Dog Ranch Rescue is accepting donations online and accepting physical donations if you are in the area. To learn more, visit their website at www.bdrr.org.

Other rescues are helping transfer animals from the Florida coast to safe places. Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is providing emergency relief to over 50 cats and dogs from a shelter on the Gulf Coast that was dramatically impacted by Hurricane Ian. In order to support the transfer and care of the animals, they are accepting donations. To learn more, visit PeggyAdams.org/hurricaneian.
Paws Humane Society in Columbus is also helping by taking animals in several Florida shelters. They have partnered with Florida Urgent Rescue and have taken in around 40 animals. Paws Humane is accepting donations to help rehome the animals and transfer them away from the affected areas. To learn more, visit Paws Humane Society.
