Devonshire Mall to host drive-thru microchip clinic for pets – Windsor Star
The drive-thru pet microchipping event the local Humane Society held at Tecumseh Mall in July was successful so a similar clinic has been organized for next week, this time at Devonshire Mall.
On Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 2 to 5 p.m., pet owners can take furry loved ones for a ride to the parking lot of the Devonshire Mall (3100 Howard Ave.) so that they can receive a microchip injection.

Sponsored by 24PetWatch, the clinic can provide pet owners with greater peace of mind, as microchipping makes it easier to identify a lost pet.
Dogs, cats and rabbits can receive the injections, which are administered under the skin and require no surgery or anesthesia. Pets don’t even have to exit the vehicle to be chipped.
Cost is $20 per pet, cash only.
Attendees are asked to enter the mall’s parking lot at its southeast corner (near the Cineplex Odeon theatres) and follow the blue signs. Security personnel will provide traffic direction.
Pet microchips are enclosed in tiny cylinders no bigger than a grain of rice. The devices require no battery. Activation only occurs when the chip is passed over by a scanner at close range.
Each chip is a transponder that sends a unique identification number to the scanner. By registering your pet’s number with 24PetWatch, your pet can be better recognized if it ever goes missing and is turned over to an animal shelter.
Note: Registration must be done in order for the microchip to be useful.
