It's National Dog Day — here's how to pamper your pup in CT – CT Insider

Whether they are large, small or some size in between, dogs often play a pretty big role in their owners’ lives. And on Aug. 26, dog owners can celebrate their furry friends a little bit extra because its National Dog Day. 
In Connecticut, dog owners can give their pets a treat on National Dog day with dog desserts, a spa day or outdoor dining. 
Here’s how to celebrate National Dog Day with your pet:
Dirty Dog Do It Yourself Pet Wash & Pawstry Shop makes dog cakes that feature ingredients like peanut butter and carrots.
Across Connecticut, dog treat bakeries are whipping up colorful concoctions and cakes to celebrate dog birthdays, “gotcha days” and more. Some make full dog cakes, while others make treats and “pawstries.”

What better way to celebrate National Dog Day than by taking your dog out for a bite to eat after a day in the office.
While dogs are not allowed inside restaurants unless they are service dogs, they are welcome in some outdoor dining areas around Connecticut.
Restaurants such as The Spread in Norwalk and Capriccio Cafe in Stamford allow them in the outdoor seating area. Breweries such as Alvarium Beer welcomes dogs inside the taproom but has a no-barking policy that is enforced by their staff, according to their website.
