Doggie fashion show highlights Paws in the Park's return – Toronto Sun

The Toronto Humane Society’s Paws in the Park — its biggest fundraiser of the year with a goal of $50,000 — will go ahead this Saturday in Woodbine Park for the first time since 2019.

“It’s full of activities,” said THS spokesperson Hannah Sotropa of the event, which has free admission. “It’s our largest annual fundraiser and it does make up a good component of our operating annual costs and helps us to support the thousands of animals that we do deal with every single year. And because we haven’t had it in person since 2019 we are expecting a big blowout and for everybody to get together and just enjoy the company of other animals and why we do what we do and be able to celebrate that a bit.”

Among the highlights of the daylong festivities (9 a.m.-4 p.m.), which ran for about a decade before the COVID-related stoppage, is a silent auction, a fundraising walk, a photo booth, lawn games, a kid zone, a beverage garden, a pup walk, “ask an expert” segments, and training demos.

“There’s a doggie fashion show (at noon),” added Sotropa. “So there’s really something for everyone, whether you have a dog or not, or kids or not, or have a family or not, you can still get engaged in this fun loving event.”

There’s also a vendor market place for both humans (Glamor Jewelry, Kiehl’s) and dogs (Chance K9 Goods, Jumping Jake Dog Co., The Bark’n Bakery) or both (Toronto Dog Moms).

“Some of them will be donating some proceeds back to us,” said Sotropa of the vendors.
