Dev Patel breaks up stabbing at Australian gas station – Wonderwall
Wonderwall.com
“Slumdog Millionaire” star Dev Patel is being hailed a hero after he helped deescalated a stabbing in Australia.
Reports out of Adelaide, Australia, claim a man and woman got into a heated argument at a gas station. Seeing this, Dev and several witnesses got in the middle of the fight in an attempt to break it up. 7News said the woman stabbed the man in the chest in the midst of the fight before being separated.
“Dev acted on his natural instinct to try and de-escalate the situation and break up the fight,” a rep for the “Lion” star told 7NEWS.com.au. “The group was thankfully successful in doing so, and they remained on site to ensure that the police and eventually the ambulance arrived.”
Dev, who’s been living in Australia with his girlfriend, stayed at the convenience store to speak to police.
The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, whereas the woman was arrested.
Although Dev is getting credit for helping in the scary situation, his rep said there are “no heroes.”
“This specific incident highlights a larger systemic issue of marginalised members of society not being treated with the dignity and respect they deserve,” the rep said. “The hope is that the same level of media attention this story is receiving (solely because Dev, as a famous person, was involved) can be a catalyst for lawmakers to be compassionate in determining long-term solutions to help not only the individuals who were involved but the community at large.”
Tom Cruise had a funny exchange with an English couple after interrupting their serene day atop a mountain in the United Kingdom to film a stunt.
Just moments before filming the sequence for “Mission: Impossible 7,” the actor arrived via helicopter to the top of England’s High Crag. After noticing a couple relaxing on the mountain’s peak, Tom apologized. After ending the very brief interaction he then paraglided off the cliff.
“Sorry for disturbing your peaceful walk with all the noise — I like your dog,” Tom apparently shouted at Sarah Haygarth at the 2,440 foot summit.
In sharing the moment with The Sun, Sarah recalled Tom getting dropped off and immediately getting his parachute ready, as though he was going to jump off the mountain.
Sarah shouted, “Are you really going to jump off there?,” to which Tom nodded and simply replied, “See you later, folks.”
Just like that, the “Top Gun” star walked to the edge and jumped.
“He was as cool as a cucumber,” Sarah said. Her husband, Jason Haygarth, added, “Before this the most famous person I’d ever met was Richard Madeley. I ended up having a wee stood next to him in the [restroom.] This tops that by a country mile.”

Several videos have been posted to social media over the past few days showing Tom paragliding over the area.
According to polling, Rep. Liz Cheney’s reelection bid for the House of Representatives is an uphill battle, but she has one major Hollywood heavyweight throwing support her way.
On Monday, Aug. 1, the Wyoming congresswoman tweeted out a picture of Kevin Costner rocking a pro-Cheney t-shirt while on the set of “Yellowstone.” The white t-shirt read, “I’m for Liz Cheney.”

In her caption, Cheney wrote, “Real men put country over party.”
Despite her long history as a staunch conservative, Cheney is on the outs with Republicans after being one of 10 party members who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump following the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. She’s also the co-chair of the member of the House select committee investigating the attack, in which rioters violently attempted to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory. Throughout the hearings, Cheney has often called out members of her own party for continuing to embrace Trump, opining that the party has largely chosen the former POTUS over America.
Regardless, Cheney’s days in Congress appear to be limited, as she trails Trump-backed GOP challenger Harriet Hageman by double-digits in nearly every poll.
Costner, for that matter, has said in the past that he isn’t a down-the-line party voter, describing himself as a firm independent.
“I vote for who I think has the best interests of the country and how we sit in the world,” he told the Daily Beast in 2020. “The Democratic Party doesn’t represent everything that I think, and neither does the Republican Party right now — at all. So, I find it too limiting.”
Melanie Hamrick was getting her satisfaction from the sun over the weekend.
On Sunday, Mick Jagger’s 35-year-old girlfriend shared a series of Instagram images in a skimpy black bikini while relaxing poolside. Melanie didn’t reveal her idyllic location, which was nestled in green foliage.
The Rolling Stones frontman didn’t appear in any of the images.
The ballerina stunned in her two-piece bikini and looked ever-relaxed on a pool lounger. In one snap, she held a glass of white wine.

Lil Durk, who’s been nominated for three GRAMMYS, was injured after an on-stage explosion during his set at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
Video of the incident (seen here) shows the rapper near the front of the stage when an explosion of smoke occurred very close to him. Durk immediately turned away from the smoke and covered his face with a shirt.

On Sunday, July 31, Durk posted a photo from the hospital that shows a heavy bandage on his eye.
“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,” he captioned the photo. “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.”
According to reports, Durk was about halfway through his set when the incident happened. It’s not known if the explosion was planned and Durk simply got too close to it, or if it was a complete accident.
After his social media post, several hip hops stars wished him well. “Get well King,” Swizz Beatz commented. T.I. wrote, “Shake back King.”
Words matter. JoJo Siwa was forced to clarify comments in which she said she doesn’t like the word “lesbian.”
The YouTube star, who is openly gay, recently told Yahoo! Life that she doesn’t like the term. However, in a TikTok video, she insisted that it’s a matter of phonetics, not definition.
“I never said that lesbian was a dirty word and I never, ever would say that it’s a dirty word because it is not,” she said on TikTok. “It is not a bad word, it is not a slur, and it is especially not a word that I am ashamed of saying or ashamed of identifying as by any means.”
She continued, “I don’t hate the word lesbian. Whenever someone talks to me about my sexuality I just say that I’m gay. It’s not the word that flows off the tongue for me, if that makes sense.”
After the Yahoo! interview, the “Dance Moms” alum confused her fans after saying “lesbian” is “just like a lot,” adding that she feels the word is too often associated with masculinity.
“You can be queer and be girly. I think that’s a thing, is a lot of times ‘lesbians’ are taken to be masculine,” she said. “If you’re a lesbian you’re supposed to be, do you want to be a boy? That’s not the case. There are plenty of very feminine lesbians.”
JoJo, 19, came out as gay in January 2021. Soon after, she announced that she was dating Kylie Prew. The duo has been off and on since.
The “JoJo Goes” star made news last week after dubbing Candace Cameron Bure the “rudest” celebrity she’s ever met, which stems from a denied photo opportunity eight years ago. In a Page Six video, JoJo called it a “rough experience.” Since then, the two women have supposedly patched things up. In an Instagram video, the “Full House” star even declared there was “no drama on the JoJo front.” But, just hours after Candace’s video, her 23-year-old daughter, Natasha Bure, stirred the pot and took a swipe at JoJo.
“Respectfully, someone saying no to taking a photo with you is not a ‘rough experience,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on Thursday, July 28. “This generation is so sensitive and has zero backbone. Grow up. There are bigger issues in the world than this.” She added, “For someone to say that they don’t want to take a photo with you or that it’s a bad time because they’re working is not a ‘rough experience.’ There are people who are dying in other countries, there are children who are starving. Those people are having a rough experience.”
Shakira will face off against the Spanish government wherever, whenever.
According to the pop star’s team, Shakira rejected a deal to settle her tax evasion case, in which prosecutors allege she defrauded Spain’s government of $15 million. Details of the deal are not known.
Shakira, 45, “trusts her innocence and chooses to leave the issue in the hands of the law,” the PR firm Llorente y Cuenca told the Associated Press.
A trial date has not been set. If found guilty of tax evasion, Shakira could face prison time. On Friday, prosecutors said they’d seek an eight-year, two-month prison sentence if she’s convicted.
A rep for the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer said, “Shakira has always cooperated and abided by the law, demonstrating impeccable conduct as an individual and a taxpayer, and faithfully following the counsel of PriceWaterhouse Coopers, a prestigious and globally recognized tax firm.”
The rep continued, “Unfortunately, the Spanish Tax Office, which loses one out of every two lawsuits with its taxpayers, continues to violate her rights and pursue yet another baseless case. Shakira is confident that her innocence will be proven by the end of the judicial process.”
Back in 2018, the Spanish government charged Shakria, claiming she failed to pay 14.5 million euros ($15 million) in income earned between 2012 and 2014. According to the AP, the case hinges on where Shakira lived during that time period. Prosecutors say she was in Spain, as her longtime partner, Gerard Piqué, was starring for the Barcelona soccer team. But, during that time, Shakira listed her official residence as the Bahamas.
Shakira‘s team claims she’s completely in the clear and paid what she owed to Spain.
The Colombian pop star has had a trying few months. Not only has she opted to go to trial, but she and Gerard ended their 11-year relationship amid rumors of infidelity.
On June 1, El Periodico claimed Shakira dumped Gerard after she caught him with another woman. The Spanish newspaper added that the soccer star, who shares two children with Shakira, relocated from their family home to a bachelor pad in Barcelona, where he’s said to be enjoying his single status.
Can’t hold her down!
Christina Aguilera is welcoming summer in stunning fashion. On Friday, July 29, the singer shared several bikini snaps while relaxing in Spain.
“Loving me for me,” she captioned the gorgeous snaps, all of which showed off her enviable curves in a snug-fitting white bikini. In the three images, Xtina, 41, also wore a see-through cover up.

The images were made that much beautiful due to the surroundings of purple flowers, green grass and healthy vegetation.
After posting the snaps, Christina’s 8.4 million Instagram followers went nuts as they heaped praise on her. Many commented with fire emojis or heart eye emojis. Christiana, who’s in Europe for a series of concerts and music festivals, was called “stunning” and “gorgeous” and “perfect.”
The “Say Something” singer added a trove of hashtags to Instagram post, including “summer bucket list,” “self love,” “Spanish summer” and “travel diaries.”

In a follow up post, she called the relaxing day a “religious experience.”
Sports Illustrated model Angie Everhart has been accused of “egging a neighbor’s apartment” following an alleged argument over a barking dog.
Angie’s team, though, calls the accusations “ridiculous.”
Christina Savar told TMZ that Angie had yelled at her children earlier this month over the family dog’s loud barking. Following that interaction, Christina approached Angie in their building and things got heated.
The neighbor claims that she woke up the following morning to find her front door and balcony covered in egg yolk and shells. After suspecting Angie was culprit, Christina called police.
For her part, Angie denies committing the juvenile act and told MailOnline that many other neighbors have complained about the dog barking “from morning until night.”
“These ladies are angry, rude and very aggressive, the whole building, including myself, believe they egged their own door,” Angie said. “The police were on premises and saw their mean erratic behavior. They never even questioned me as the police had been called twice prior with complaints regarding these crazy ladies. This is their kind of behavior not mine.”
The neighbor told TMZ that she plans to move because she feels unsafe.
After investigating, police failed to issue any citations.
Meanwhile, Angie’s rep told the webloid, “Obviously she had nothing to do with this, which is why police didn’t even file a report. Angie would never do anything to set a bad example for her son. This woman was served an eviction notice today by the building, because she has had problems consistently with many of the neighbors.”
