A number of dog owners in Cleethorpes had their day brightened after finding tennis balls around the seaside resort that had been left in loving memory of someone's pet.
A number of people walking their dogs came across the tennis balls attached to a nearby fence with a note and a picture of Max the dog. The note read: "In loving memory of my sweet boy Max, who would have turned 16 this week.
"His favourite place was the beach with a tennis ball. Please take me home for your 4-legged family member." Many were blown away by this random act of kindness including local woman Andrea Jones who was lucky enough to find one of the tennis balls.

She explained: "My husband was walking the dog along the sea front when he got excited by a tennis ball. When he got closer we saw the note. It was so lovely and really sentimental.
"There were a number of balls all in different positions near to where we found ours. It's such an amazing thing to do and Boston our American Bulldog was over the moon."
As lovely as the gesture was though, the reasons behind it were very sad. Andrea added: "We don't know how long ago Max passed away or anything like that. Obviously, the person is still grieving the loss of their dog, but just just to know they want to make other dogs happy is a lovely gesture.
"It is a bit of a mystery though seeing as we have no idea who put them there." Asked what she would say to the person who put the balls on the beach, Andrea said: "I'd want them to know how kind it was of them to do this.
"It's a lovely thought and they were able to give joy to another dog and another owner. I'd just like to say thank you." A number of others were touched by the random act of kindness too.
In a post on social media, Beryl Rees-Smith said: "What a beautiful thoughtful gesture. Max was one very lucky boy I think." Debbie Ryal added: "Truly is a fantastic idea."
Another woman, Amanda Rudland, explained that it was something she too had done following the loss of her dog. She said "We did something similar when we lost our darling Lucy five years ago. Her favourite place was Weelsby Woods, we took all her balls that were in decent condition and handed them out to other dog owners who were having the fun with their dogs."
