A pet-centric apartment community plans to open a Dallas property – Dallas Business Journal – The Business Journals
Fidus Pet Concierge Communities is partnering with Dallas-based Cypress Equity Investments to open a third location in Dallas ahead of a larger expansion, according to a news release.
The pet-centric apartment community already has two locations in Grapevine and Garland, with plans to open a Dallas-area property in 2022. Fidus also looks to acquire and renovate four to six more properties in the area over the next two years.
“Seventy percent of U.S. households now own a pet, a trend that accelerated during the pandemic when people were spending more time at home,” Steve Bardack, founder and principal of Fidus Pet Concierge Communities, said in the release. “Recognizing the need for hands-on pet care in apartment buildings, Fidus Pet Concierge Communities addresses the pain points associated with pet ownership and can also be a solution for companies looking to relocate new talent with dogs in tow.
Units will feature amenities such as a doggy door that leads to a private fenced yard or dog-safe balcony, dog parks, group activities, training classes, and more. A tech-focused pet package is also available for every tenant which provides dog nanny services for owners who cannot be home with their pets.
An on-site pet concierge will also be available for residents, providing services including doggy daycare, boarding, grooming, dog walking, and in-unit feeding.
“Dog owners are a rapidly growing segment of today’s multifamily residential populations,” Michael Sorochinsky, founder and CEO of Cypress Equity Investments, said in the release. “With these renters in mind, Fidus Pet Concierge Communities were intentionally designed to support active, independent, and spontaneous lifestyles for both residents and their dogs — thanks to each property’s canine-specific apartment features, building-wide amenities and onsite services, all of which help facilitate peace of mind.”
The company said the complexes do not have any blanket breed or weight restrictions. Future residents are required to participate in an in-person temperament test for each dog, as aggressive dogs are not permitted regardless of breed or size.
