Wellness Pet Company introduces new plant-based dog kibble – MEAT+POULTRY
TEWKSBURY, MASS. — On March 17, premium natural pet food Wellness Pet Company launched a new dog kibble and meal topper. The company’s new Wellness CORE Digestive Health Plant-Based Kibble and Bowl Boosters Immune Health Toppers are formulated with more sustainable protein from plants and eggs.
According to Wellness Pet Company, 58% of Millennial and Gen Z pet owners like the idea of offering their pets food that uses an alternative, more sustainable protein source. This data prompted the company to create the new dog food and topper with help from veterinarians and animal nutritionists.
“Wellness Pet developed the original Wellness CORE Digestive Health line as an answer to the growing number of pet parents looking to support their pets’ digestion, and now, we’re proud to also support their interest in meatless and more sustainable nutrition options with our plant-based recipes,” said Danielle Bernal, BVSc global veterinarian with Wellness Pet Company.
The Wellness CORE Digestive Health Plant-Based Kibble is for dogs of all ages. The easily digestible formula contains digestive enzymes, prebiotic fibers and probiotics to support a dog’s digestive health. The food is also formulated with eggs to support a strong immune system and healthy skin and coat.
The Wellness CORE Bowl Boosters Immune Health Toppers serves as a functional meal topper, giving dogs a boost of nutrition and flavor. The topper is formulated with cranberries, papaya, carrots, sweet potatoes, kelp, zinc and vitamin E to provide immune support. The topper comes in recycle-ready packaging, allowing consumers to easily recycle the empty bags.
“As a company, we fully support the next-gen pet parents who are forging the path for more sustainable food alternatives and our plant-based recipes allow us to meet our mission of fulfilling a life of shared wellbeing through natural nutrition in a more environmentally conscious way,” Bernal said.
