New Britain restaurant's house burger named best in Connecticut by national website – Hartford Courant

Eat This Not That, a website about food and nutrition, formed a list of “The Best Burger in Every State” and named as Connecticut’s best the House Burger at Riley’s Hot Dog & Burger Gourmet in New Britain.
“You can’t go wrong with the restaurant’s house burger, which features American cheese, burger sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion,” the website wrote in the April review. “If you want something more adventurous, Riley’s also serves burgers topped with mac and cheese and jalapeño poppers.”
This isn’t the first time the food at Riley’s has caught the attention of national reviewers. In September 2021, MSN posted a list of the best hot dog in every state.
“With such an extensive hot dog menu, it’s tough to choose at Riley’s Hot Dog & Burger Gourmet. All of the hot dogs get rave reviews but two highlights are the classic Chili Cheese Dog with Riley’s meat sauce, Cheddar sauce and onions, and the Loco Taco Dog with seasoned minced beef, taco sauce, lettuce, tomato and nacho chips,” MSN wrote.
And in summer 2020, Business Insider compiled a list of the best French fries in every state. Riley’s came out on top. “At Riley’s Hot Dog & Burger Gourmet in New Britain, patrons can choose between the spot’s original lightly salted fries, Cajun fries, or get a double order … smothered with toppings,” Business Insider wrote.
Riley’s, which started out as a food truck in 2010 and went brick-and-mortar in 2014, is at 61 Glen St. It is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday. rileysgourmet.com.
