Irving Arthur Salkovitz Obituary – Foster's Daily Democrat
Irving A. Salkovitz, 79 of Lee, New Hampshire passed away early Saturday morning May 28th after a long battle with cancer.
Irving was born on April 2, 1943 to Samuel and Eva Salkovitz in Boston, Ma. After graduating from high school in 1961 he was accepted to attend the University of Vermont. His extreme passion at an early age was to become a veterinarian, so after graduation he applied to multiple universities. While waiting for acceptance he started his advanced degree in bio-nutrition at Colorado State University where he met his future wife Rosemary. This was during the Vietnam War and he was drafted immediately after he completed his master’s degree, doing research in Framingham, Ma. for the army. After his service and through his tenacity he was accepted into the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Penn. graduating in 1975.
After working at a practice in Monson, Ma for 2 years, Irving and Rosemary settled in Lee, NH to start his own mixed animal practice, Wadleigh Falls Veterinary Clinic.
The sale of WFVC in 2006 led him to work in Windham,NH and later at Cocheco Veterinary Hospital in Farmington, NH. He worked there until 3 months prior to his passing.
Irving is survived by his wife Rosemary of 47 years, three sisters: Marcia Shuman(deceased), Helene Glaser(David), Ruth Hoshino(Peter) and three nieces and three nephews and their children.
Irving had many other passions along with vet medicine. His Corgi dogs, his horses, living on his farm, the ocean and his Harley motorcycles.
A Celebration of a Life well lived will be held at the Lee Church Congregational in Lee, NH June 6th at 11am.
In lieu of flowers donate money to the NH Food Pantry, World Food Program or the Lee Church in Irving’s name
