Officials say three people were hurt, including a staff member. Rioters broke windows, destroyed furniture and got into a big fight before the juveniles broke out, according to deputies.
The riot happened at about 8:50 p.m. on Friday.
Officials warned that the minors had been seen roaming neighborhoods near the facility, located on SE Tequesta in unincorporated Martin County. Residents were encouraged to lock their doors and call 911 if they witnessed anything suspicious.
“I was a little concerned,” said Laurel Smith of Martin County. “I just went around locking all the doors. I put the dog with the kids to make sure that at least one of the kids had somebody in the room to bark and let us know if anybody tried to break in.”

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Jupiter Police Department and Tequesta Police Department, were able to locate all of the minors by 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Since being found, multiple youths have been charged with various crimes, such as battery on a health care worker and resisting arrest. Deputies say the minors are now at a juvenile detention center in Fort Pierce.
