If you're heading out for that morning coffee in the sunshine leaving the dog behind can feel like one of the biggest betrayals. Luckily there is a raft of cafes around town that cater to our four-legged friends, from beachside pavilions to converted warehouses serving puppy cinos, dog treats and more.
Here are the best dog-friendly cafes in Melbourne for 2022:
Dating all the way back to 1928, the West Beach Bathers Pavillion has long stood on the shores of Melbourne's inner-city beach in St Kilda West. Taking your pooch here is a time-honoured tradition— plenty of sand to frolic, grade-a coffee and vistas a plenty.
Melbourne’s first dedicated dog cafe, Dog House, can be found in the heart of Collingwood along Johnston Street. With a gated courtyard for dogs to dine on the special of the day, such as chicken-flavoured pup-corn, turkey muffins and brisket bones, they can also chase this down with a dogachino.
Expertly crafted espresso and a more-than-welcome pup policy make Vincent The Dog a top contender for the best dog-friendly cafe in Melbourne. Situated on Drummond Street in Carlton it has a spacious courtyard to house your pooch while caffeinating.
It's a real love affair when it comes to dogs at A Minor Place, the converted cottage in Brunswick has a range of dogs bowls in the outdoor area and even treats available by request. Not a bad spot for a coffee or some brunch either.
CAMBERWELL
With walls adorned with pictures of woofers' previous visits, The Old Garage just off Camberwell Road is a welcoming cafe situated inside a converted mechanics shop. Lauded as one of the best dog-friendly cafes in Melbourne, they've got treats on hand and they also whip up puppy cinos on the reg.
Tucked away in the Collingwood's Children's Farm, this welcoming space is used to the varied pace of dogs and animals around. The Farm Cafe's picturesque backdrop of the gardens is viewable from the alfresco courtyard so there's plenty of vibe and there's also a very solid menu of breakfast options.
