There's never a bad day to celebrate your pet, but National Dog Day, Aug. 26, gives dog owners an extra special reason to pamper their pups.
"National Dog Day is a wonderful occasion to show your pups some extra love," Mark Eamer, chief marketing officer at Chewy, told "Good Morning America."
While happiness matters, it is important to remember other factors also influence your pet's overall health, so "Good Morning America" tapped Darris Cooper, national dog training manager at Petco, to share some helpful insight.
"It's important to evaluate the aspects individually and as a whole to give your pup the best care possible," Cooper said. "The Whole Health approach involves five pillars, physical health, mental health, social health, home health and accessible health, which help pets lead full, rewarding lives.”
